How Youtuber Got Me Inspired To Write Again

Breaking through my writer’s block and finding inspiration

Recently I got stuck in a rut and had no inspiration to write. I accidentally stumbled upon an Australian writer Christy Anne Jones, who creates aesthetic and inspiring videos on her writing process.

The first video I watched was about Haruki Murakami’s 4 AM writing routine, which piqued my interest. Not that you would ever make me wake up that early, as I have my best ideas late at night. Still, it was interesting to discover and the video was so beautifully made that I decided to explore more.

If you’d like to try this routine here is what it looks like:

  • Get up at 4 AM to write and work for 5–6 hours
  • In the afternoon run for 10km or swim for 1500m (or do both)
  • Read a bit and listen to some music
  • Go to bed at 9 PM

He believes that physical strength is as necessary as artistic sensitivity.
